RE: [IAC#RG] Arvind is not a Nehruvian Socialist

Dear Asthana Ji,
What you are saying, Arvind never said so. He never said he is aginst Socialism, against free/subsidised water and electercity and wants strong local governments, limited role of central Government i.e  Security (both internal disturbances and external aggression), quick justice,  no PSUs, only five six Govt departments against about 100 Deptts at present etc. He needs to be very clear in his own mind. He never made any clear distinction between Independence (free for all) and Freedom with accounarbilty and transparency, abolition of colonial model of adminsitration i.e no Patwari, no Tehsildar, no Deputy Commissioner,
no Divisonal Commissioner, Municipal Commissioner on hire and fire basis etc. Arvind does nort seem to be transparent and frank with an open mind.
Please ask Arvind to make his mind very clear about Socialism. He refuses to meet people who suggest to him to shed his Socialistic ideas.
Regards
Prem Sabhlok

Dear Sabhlok ji,

As you know, I have been working closely with Arvind and his group. I find that he is a firm believer in Swaraj, minimum government and maximum self-government. He has also said so many times in private and public.

I do not know why you are under the impression that Arvind is in favour of Nehruvian socialist. Nothing could be further than the truth. He does not want the government involved in most things. He wants the people to take their own decisions about things that affect them.

We have a committee working on Industrial and Economic policies of the government. There is no whiff of Nehru in it! I am also on two committees (Foreign policy and Corporate Governance) and we have no one spouting socialism there. I am also a guest in the Defence Policy committee and in that we are recommending privatisation of defence production in favour of Indian companies.

Some people get the impression that Arvind is against business because he keeps raising issues about some unscrupulous ones like Reliance. I want to clarify that we are against dishonest business, as every thinking person should be. We are entirely in favour of promoting those business houses in the private sector which work in an honest manner.

If you have any questions on this, please do not hesitate to ask.

Regards

KA

ps: I notice an email from Sarbajit in your mail chain. Please do not entertain him. He is a frustrated, foul-mouthed fraud. Both Sanjeev and I have blocked him from our lists.
