Dear Friends
There are always two sides of a coin.
Let me share my personal experiences with India Post.
1. Atleast in 50% cases Dept of Post never delivers the AD (acknowledge due) to sender for which Dept charges Rs.3/- extra.
2. The speedpost articles within Delhi itself is delivered much later than normal post. Within Delhi to Delhi, I have received Speedpost letters in 8-10 days
3. The movement particulars of a speedpost letter on website www.indiapost.gov.in are forged with i.e. the postman with the help of PostMaster enters wrong entry on website for an article. They show the delivery date 2 to 4 days earlier than actual delivery to addressee.
4. Many times postman does not bother to get the receivers signature. He put it himself and just throw the speed post and registered letters as a normal unregistered letter.
5. Inspite of making the complaint with SSPO (East Delhi) and CPMG (Delhi), nothing much has changed.
5. My recent experience with the dept in Uttar Pradesh:
I came to know from a friend that there is a 24X7 speedpost booking counter in Ghaziabad near Railway Station in Bazaria known as City Sorting Office counter. For an urgent letter to be sent to UP Public Service Commission, Allahabad, I visited this counter on 16th Feb at 10:30 pm. The person on the counter tells me that his working hours/ timings are over and computer is shut down and other person whose duty is there (10 pm to 8 am) is attending some marriage who will do booking manually and he will come around 12:30 am (mid night). I could not wait there for so long, therefore he ( the person present on the counter) took my letter and Rs 25/- as charges and said that my letter will be posted and I could collect receipt some other day. My letter was posted (speedpost) next day i.e. on 17 Feb at 11:00 hours
I got the receipt but there is no delivery status as well as movement of speed post letter is provided on web site. The receipt no- SP EU387175099in is there but no status is available on web site. Meanwhile I am taking up the matter with higher authorities.
Regards
Lalit

> We have so far be using couriers to post our RTI applications/ letters because it costs us only Rs 10/. Fine ,earlier we used to get our proof of delivery( POD) very promptly from all agencies. It has been noticed that some are not getting our PODs as proofs. It also remains a pvt agency.
> It is my suggestion in case we try Speed Post it costs only Rs 12/ for local. Just Rs 2/ extra. We can always keep the track on indiapost.gov. in and save it as a proof.

Re: [rti_india] Re: indiapost.gov.in . Mailing Option to Courier
dear sirs
as far as possible send your RTI through nodal designated post offices for RTI. it is free of cost and one gets printed acknowledgment on the spot.
