In yet another blow for India's lame duck Chief Information Commissioner (Mr Habibullah in case we don't remember his name anymore), Parliament has returned the PMO's request to release the details of assets of its MPs. Mr Habibullah's decsion had requested the Speakers of LS & RS to give clearance for the information disclosure.
"The RTI Act does not provide a public authority to give clearance to another for providing information being maintained by that public authority to an applicant. Under such circumstances, it is felt that the instant reference is not required to be placed before the Lok Sabha speaker," the Lok Sabha secretariat told PMO."
This is typical of the buck-passing which Mr Habibullah's orders routinely result in. If Mr Habibullah had been a real man, he would have summoned the information from Parliament and published it within his order instead of running a "chop shop" where the RTI Act is butchered daily.
The Right to Information Act 2005, is the biggest fraud inflicted upon on the citizens since the Nehru-Gandhi family.
