RIGHT TO INFORMATION MOVEMENT
16 Kubera Munusamy Street, Nanganallur, Chennai 600061.
Sir/Ma'am.
We are a non-funded NGO that fights corruption tooth and nail. We are a five year old organisation based in Chennai, Tamil Nadu India, but we have been covering a good number of government departments both state and central spanning the length and breadth of the country.
We were instrumental in the arrest of four scientists of SAMEER few moths back for their fraudulent activities. This was done with the help of RTI.
Now we have been fighting the Tamil Nadu Government's Cooperation department which is pregnant with deep rooted corruption and mismanagement. Thanks to RTI, we could gather much vital information to prove corruption and misdeeds in the organisation.
Repeated petitions to the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, the Principal Secretary to the Government, the Cooperation Minister and the Chief Minister failed to evoke any response.
A copy of the petition sent to the Principal Secretary to the Government and the Chief Minister is attached for kind perusal.
Also, the Cooperation Minister is keeping along with him a corrupt person named Mr Kandasuvaamy to deal with money matters.
On 24.5.2011 we filed a RTI petition with the Public Information Officer at the office of the Tamil Nadu Cooperation Minister seeking to know whether he had appointed one Mr. V Kandasuvaamy as his personal staff.
A reply was received on 4.7.2011 that Mr. V Kandasuvaamy was not his personal staff.
In the meantime Mr. V Kandasuvaamy retired as Director in the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Union on 30.6.2011 and now, he is not employed anywhere.
From the day he retired, he is seen with the Cooperation Minister. Now, we have come to know that Mr. V Kandasuvaamy accompanies the Cooperation Minister wherever he goes on official visit – whether inspection of cooperatives or raids.
The proof is the picture published in the Kootturavuu magazine published by the Tamil Nadu Cooperative Union.
Though the Minister's office denied that Mr. Kandasuvaamy was the Minister's personal staff, the picture released in the magazine categorically states that the Minister's office had lied in its reply.
We have also sent a complaint to the Chief Minister in this regard; but no action has been taken so far on our petition.
A mighty force, you are, we call upon your support in achieving our goal – root out corruption.
We shall be very grateful if you could send an email or letter to the officials concerned seeking immediate action on our petition. The email addresses are appended below.
Co-operation, Food and Consumer Protection Department:
We once again thank you for your support.
