Re:[IAC#RG]

Dear Mr. Vidyut Kale,

I saw Ashu's mail yesterday.  Eventhough, Hum, thoda, thoda, Hindi malumhai, since I studied Samskrit for 2 years and as  the script for Samskrit and Hindi are same, I can read Hindi to some extent but, I could not able to make out(understand)  anything out of that.  Then I asked my wife who knows Hindi, as she was in North India from her age 3 to 13, to read and tell me what Ashu wants to convey. (Here you must understand the communication gap).  Then I came to know that Ashu is stressing the importance of Mathru Basha and all Indians should communicate only in Mathru Basha. For Ashu Mathru Basha is Hindi. But, for me the Mathru Basha is Tamil.  But, of-course, I know, Ashu wants me to
learn Hindi and change my Mathu Basha to Hindi.

Around 1960, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhakam (DMK) which the propping the Ruling UPA I & II, started a big agitation in Tamil Nadu  against Hindi and Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru assured that Hindi will not be imposed on Tamil Nadu. Since then Hindi is backseat and had been totally removed as a Subject in  all Govt and Govt. aided  Schools in Tamil Nadu. Only recently, some Private Schools included Hindi as one of the optional subjects. Hindi Prachar Sabhas are there, but people are afraid to enter Hindi Prachar Sabhas.  Of-course the situation is changing nowadays. There is no second opinion that there should be a common language i.e Hindi  and all Indians should communicate only in that language.  But, all should know Hindi. When you communicate,  the other person should be able to understand what you want to convey. Otherwise, the effort will become waste.

I never worked in North India.  But due to my occupation and mingling with many North Indians and curiosity to read the Hindi posters, I learned little Hindi and I know few words and in a broad outline, I can understand when a person speaks in Hindi to some extent not completely.

My Son, whom I don't want to be handicapped by not knowing Hindi,  tried my level best to learn Hindi   but, he didn't evince interest and finally, I had to give up and  put him in a School, where Hindi is not compulsory.  Till his age of 25, he didn't know a single Hindi word.  Then  he got a job in Delhi.  I was worried, how he will manage without knowing Hindi.  To my utter  surprise, after going to Delhi, within six months, he started to speak in Hindi very fluently. He is there for the past 15 years, but, he cannot read and write Hindi.   Why I say this, circumstances force a Person to learn a language.

Before British came to India i.e. in 16th/17th Century, nobody in India knew about English but speaking different languages and better communicating each other.  When the British captured the entire India around end of 16th century and declared India as a British Colony,  they brought all Englishmen to India to administer the Country right from Governor/Vice Roy, Judges, Police, Railways, Postal, Airlines, Telephone, Printing, Shipping, Schools and Colleges, Uniform, Dress Code, Hair Style, Life Style, Liquor, Official Language, Army and in a nutshell, the entire Indian Administration had been changed to British Administration and converted most of us to English. Each and everything was controlled by the King and Queen of England. For nearly 300 years, India was under British Rule and they  had written in Indelible Inks the Indian Way of Life and System. Even after Independence, we still follow some of the left over British legacies in Govt. Departments, Railways, Judiciary, Police, Education, Dress Code, Hair Style,  etc., etc. Indian Constitution is based on various Constitutions in the world, one of them is British.  So, still we inherit certain portion of British Constitution.  Elections to Parliament, State Legislatures, Municipal Corporations etc., are all based on British Constitution. Only difference, there, the Queen or King is the Monarch here the President. There the Queen/King is the Monarch for his/her life time. Here for every 5 years the President is elected. If you completely do away all British legacies, you can totally reject English. But I have my own doubt, whether it is possible.   But, still you follow some British Legacies and reject English is not logical.  It is inevitable.  Majority of the people in the world speak English.  Language in the tool for communication.  If you want to communicate in a language not known to others, how can you survive. Your communication should be understood by others. So many Technological information are communicated only in English.  So many Electronic Goods coming from Japan, China, German, France and their  Technical Information are printed in English only.  Can we ask the Manufacturers of these Goods to print the Technical Information in Hindi and will they oblige. I have my own doubt.

Before British came to India, there was no English.  Indians were communicating in their own different  languages and moving around from Kashmir to Kanyakumari on pilgrimage, trade etc.   Not because of different languages spoken, India was captured by Islam, British, French and Portuguese but, because of circumstances prevailed in India at different times of foreign invasion,  to loot and take away the Wealth from India, modern weapons brought by them and their policy of divide and rule by different Invaders  finally made India to fall from grace.

To liberate India from the British, all Indians joined together without caste, creed, religion, language and gender.  For nearly 100 years, the struggle for Independence was going on under the leadership of so many eminent personalities from different walks of life.  Language was not a barrier to fight for Independence.  Under the Leadership of various Leaders speaking different languages, India attained Independence.  The hard earned Independence should be protected and preserved.  For that we need Unity in Diversity.

Hence, Language is not an issue at all for fighting Corruption.  India is a Multi Lingual  Country.  Indians speaking different languages live together very harmoniously in all States exceptions being  in few vulnerable States, where it is purely due to  Politicians agenda.

The need of the hour is unity in diversity  and an able Leader to take us in right direction.   All Indians who wants to fight corruption, should join together as Freedom Fighters joined  without caste, creed, religion and language. JAI HIND !! BHARATH  MATHA HI JAI  !!
HINDUSTHAN ZINDABAD !!

जनाब हम इंडियन भी है और भारतीय भी. देश का बटवारा नहीं करते.

पण मी तुमच्या मातृभाषेत का बोलू? तुम्ही माझ्या मातृभाषेत बोलाल का?

People matter. Ideas matter. Sentiment matters. Do not confuse the vehicle for the identity. You thirst for Hindi, तो हम हिंदी में लिख सकते है don't make that an accusation of our identity for not reading your mind.

India is one country, do not split it at whim for religion, caste, class, gender or rural/urban. दो मिनिट के बाढप्पन में जिंदगी भर के लिये कडवाहट के बीज फैलते है.

Hope that makes sense.
