Jst saw in the 9pm news that govt will try n get all the taxpayers money bck in this deal as per Mr Chacko. What is perplexing is why these respected ppl in govt keep sitting on their high horses till someone pulls the rope on them!
The govt has all the investigative agencies at their disposal. Why wait for months sitting on this.
Regards.
Shame ! instead of encouraging indegeous Dhruva to cater to VVIP needs there was west pressure to have heli deal. Dealing with animal spirits of few cronies in corrupt procurement in India, Italy and rest of world splits open a cry for a new just equitable world order.Ninety Nine percent of global citizens must sustain this challenge. Why should India buy and inflate the most expensive helicopters for rulers without fair mechanism from Taxpayers money ? Cry and Demand for rule bound competitive transparency in procurement can only save this global virus called corruption. Arrest of Finmeccanica CEO Giuseppe Orsi by Italian authorities show that Itay is more concerned about servicing its 99 % people then Indian rulers. We also hear American authority blowing the whistle that this Augusta Westland deal of VVIP purchase of helicopters is three times more expensive then their best helicopters. Why should India buy and inflate the most expensive helicopters for rulers without fair mechanism from Taxpayers money ? Cry and Demand for rule bound competitive transparency in procurement can only save this global virus called corruption. Public pressure in Itlay suffering from Debt crisis in EU appears more then in India as such shady deals benefits only a few cronies.

Subject: Copter Deal
To: newsroom@timesnow.comYesterday I watched the debate on 'Times Now' regarding kick-backs in the Helicopter Deal with an Italian Company. Majority of the Retd. Army and Air Force personnel were saying that the original specification might have been altered to ensure more transparency because initially they got only one tender. But it is revealed that there are three countries manufacturing helicopter capable of flying more than 18000 feet high with similar specification and passenger capacity. Details are given below and all the details are available on the internet. The original specification was suitable for evacuation and transportation of military personnel from Kargil and Siachen during the war. Moreover, the original proposal might have been made after Kargil war in 1999. At that time our indigenously- developed Dhruva which can also fly at a height of 20000 feet was not there. The Dhruva entered into service in 2002. So if the Govt. wanted, it could have purchased Dhruva and saved Foreign exchange . Even Israel has purchased Dhruva. Majority of Defence Deal Scams started during Rajiv Gandhi's period, when the Western lobby become powerful and India turned to the West for defence equipments and subsequently scams also increased. By cancelling this Deal , our country 's security will not be jeopardized as we have Dhruva, the production of which should be increased.

Rajiv Gandhi 1984-1989
Westland helicopter scam
The Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi forced the public sector Pawan Hans Corporation to buy 21 helicopters from a British company that was shutting down. A series of technical faults and crashes followed. The helicopters were eventually discarded as junk and lined up at an unused airport in Mumbai.
