Re: [IAC#RG] India's rigged EVM voting machines

I have been fortunate to be part of many heated and lively discussions and at times to openings of Pandora's Box.

I never knew that EVM used in India is highly dubious piece of plastic which can be tampered with.

Surely makes me go crazy that my vote which i have cast can be manipulated through EVM? truly sad thing.......................if we on this forum are so taken aback by this thing and events happening around this why has not much spoken or even debated on larger forums like print or television media?

Dear Mr Sanjeev Gupta

May I know the details- date of filing, case number, advocate representing you and opposite parties, dates on which hearings scheduled/conducted, present status etc. I have the least faith in our judiciary but still it is one option (and possibly the only legally available option for a law abiding citizen/group of citizens) to address grievances/issues.

Dear Mr XYZ,

I have gone through few trail mails.

Each & every citizen of India suggesting Reforms & reforms & giving suggestions for improvement...

It is a bloody shit on the part of us.

We [Sanjeev Gupta (Engineer) and Neeraj Saxena (Advocate)] have studied the working of Election Commission of India. Since last more than 1 year we have worked on it & found every thing is manipulated.

We have filed a WRIT PETITION with Hon'ble Supreme Court for the Fundamental Rights of all 121 Crore citizens of India for Right to Expression & Right to Information.

The same has been accepted by the SC & shortly you will get the more details on media & every where.

Please don't work on reforms or if you wish to continue don't send us the mail because we might have much better expertise for the same.

Warm Regards

Dear Mr. S. Kumar

1) You are an American (not Indian) so you should be very careful and respectful what you write about India from so far away, and especially when your "facts" are obtained from dubious and second hand sources.

2) The present EVMs are very obsolete devices lacking even basic safeties and are easily rigged.

3) These EVMs contain special hidden software allowing a "swing" of upto 7%. This swing is sold off to the highest bidder.

4) This new paper trails EVM is just another fraud perpetuate by these Sai Babaist installed CECs. The paper slip will not be provided to the voters, nor will it show who the voter actually voted for.

5) You are unaware that in 2010 my friend Dr. Arun Mehta a reknowned computer scientist was informed in RTI that the Indian EVMs have "decoder" facility to reveal which voter has cast what vote. This PROVES that there is no secrecy of Indian ballots and it is a MYTH.

6) Insofar as what I am proposing being too complicated. You are unaware that in your own country (USA) the US Govt since 2004 has adopted a software which allows their illiterate blacks and Hispanics to vote on the Internet. I hope you are not suggesting that India's people are any way inferior or less intelligent to the lowest sections of your nation ?

7) Just to remind you, at one time long ago, I was a world reknowned "hacker" /cyber criminal on US hit list, so I take an active interest in these things. India's DRE EVMs are among the worst in the world  - most insecure !!

9) What Harikumar showed is not taken seriously by hackers. It was only a theoretical demonstration and he replaced / bypassed vast sections of the motherboard with external circuits. Hackers are not convinced that these new EVMs are tamper proof. Nothing is tamper proof.

9) Finally, the ONLY serious objection to Internet based voting is that it will lead to BUYING and SELLING of VOTES. I say this is a POSITIVE ADVANTAGE for Net voting and is not a disadvantage in any way. Please think about it instead of only being a propagandist (and not a very good one either) for your political masters.

The CEC has already informed the Supreme Court as well as Govt. of India that the Commission is ready with EVM linked to paper-trail so that remote tampering if any could be verified in case of complaints after the poll. This will also ensure anonymity of the voter's choice when he pulls out the paper strips and puts it into the box.

The Govt. rules of 2000 specifies that in the use of any electronic machine for public purposes, it should be supported by a paper document what we get as print-outs from Supermarkets and elsewhere. The GOI has not ben following the rule all these years in the matter of EVM-s though the rule is mandatory and Congress esp. preferred the EVM-s (already banned in several Countries abroad) to get their favourite candidates elected by remote control, the EVM-s containg Trojan accepting such signals from outside the storage areas.

Now that the CEC Sampath has already informed GOI Nof the readiness of such EVMS with paper-trail that could be verified in case of disputes, it is for the Supreme Court and GOI to expedite manufacture of such machines and use the tamper-proof EVM-s in future.

The other methods described by Sarbajit Roy are more complicated and not applicable on a wider scale in all villages in the Country.
