RE: [IAC#RG] GRIEVANCE: Appointment of next Chief Information Commissioner of India

31/7/13

Objections raised by the convenor against appointment of Mr. Sandhu are very valid.
It was hoped that after CVC case the Govt. will pay heed to transparancy in selection process of CIC. But such hopes have been dashed by appointing a beaurocrat  who chose to retire prematurely to be appointed.
Please let this matter not rest till full facts are known in the process of selection.

Sandhu's final posting before joining CIC was "Media Advisor to PM" in PMO.

"Sandhu, who was due to retire in two months, has sought voluntary retirement to take up the important assignment. For the past four months - ever since Sanjaya Baru left for a teaching assignment to Singapore - the prime minister was functioning without a media advisor. The media was denieid any kind of credible information from the PMO, and had to depend upon non-PMO sources or sometimes even the BJP.

JUST FOR YOUR INFORMATION, DEEPAK SANDHU WAS THE DG (MEDIA AND COMMUNICATIONS) IN PRESS INFORMATION BUREAU, AND HAS NEVER SERVED WITH PMO.
