Re: [HumJanenge] RTI to Bank

Thanks everyone for your informative and detailed response.

Veeresh,
We have tried our level best to compromise, but they backtrack expecting more money. His extortion tactics have become unbearable now, and to at least save ourselves on the legal front, we are trying to collect evidence which will help us in court. We have hired a lawyer already to handle this matter.

Thanks again everyone.

Dear Friend

1. FACTS: Your FIL supposedly took a loan from ICICI Bank after you got married, and pledged his property for this. Now you are having problems with your wife, she has filed a case under Dowry Act stating that your FIL took loan to pay you dowry. Now you want to file an RTI wanting to know details of this loan.

2. ANSWER: You cannot get this information in RTI from anybody. Mr Milap Choraria had similar problem. A 5 member Bench of CIC rejected all his arguments. ICICI is also a private body, so no question of getting information either directly or indirectly (RBI).

3. You need a good advocate my friend, preferbly one who is specialist in matrimonial matters on criminal side. It is always better to RECONCILE / COMPROMISE with your wife and not to retaliate (what is known as "counter blast)

Is it possible to get information regarding a loan from ICICI Bank using RTI? This information is needed for a legal matter and would help the investigation. I had filed the RTI with ICICI Bank, but I think since private banks don't fall under this ambit they didn't reply (even though this information was regarding a legal matter and case details and copy was shared with them). Will filing the RTI with RBI help? Could it possibly direct ICICI Bank to share the information requested?

Any help, or suggestions would be highly appreciated.
