The COVID induced lockdown has challenged many things we take for granted, including the education system. While as students outside Kashmir, we grapple with the challenge of moving to online platforms and making distance education work, we are brought closer to imagining what education under lockdown in the Valley has looked like for years. But not quite. What does the added uncertainty of Internet shutdowns and the restriction to 2G mobile Internet mean for Kashmiri students? How do we begin to understand the nuances of education in a conflict zone, to make sense of the constant reality of learning under lockdown?
