Re: [rti_india] Re: Fwd:: Sharad Pawar gets life time achievement award

What Mr. Guptaji writes is true in ideal conditions! But where is democracy other than the process of election which too is manifested with corruption and high handedness!

Let us look into what other alternatives Harvinder had to convey his grievance- wait for 5 years till the next election and the next and the next........! The followers of naxalism, terrorism, regionalism and so on are people who experienced suppression, desparity, discrimination, inordinate delays, endless excuses, denial of right ful information and sesrvices and so on! If Harvinder had to present his grievance how and to whom he could have presented it? He must definitely have had explored all possible way to drive the point home and having not succeeded got frustrated and perhaps for a moment he turned out to be a naxalite or terrorist beleiving strongly in what he thinks is right! In fact most of us are Harvinders of varying degrees having tested the limits of patience and lost hope that authorities would do something worthwhile!  With almost 900 million hand to mouth and below povert level can any one ensure that emotional level of our population is balanced and uniform? With Anna movement more and more people have got a scent of what is happening in the country, the prevalent anarchy! People are more informed! For common man delivery of things and services are of prime importance ! The saying "while mother is on the death bed breathing her last the daughter is engrossed in playing violine" This daughter is our Government!

First of all I condemn the slapping to Shri Sharad Pawar in the strongest possible terms.  Such incidents have no place in democracy where alternative routes to vent our grievances are available.  If violence is resorted to, the democracy will not survive.

But I am surprised that on 11th Nov. India TV in an sting operation shown at 10.00 p.m. four persons threatening to Shri Anna Hazare.  The three were those who entered into the cabin of Shri Prashant Bhushan, Advocate and some beat him up.  The other one was Mr. Jitendra Pathak who also hurled slipper on Arvind Kejriwal at Lucknow and on that day, he said that that he will target Anna too for misleading people. In TV sting operation, he threatened that in case Anna will visit Uttar Pradesh, he will finish him using the bomb.  As per news reports, Jitendra was a member of Congress Sewa Dal from 2006 to 2009.

I made a complaint on this to Hon'ble President, Prime Minister and the Delhi Police Commissioner by email on the same night at about 11.30 p.m. but have not heard or read about any action against the persons who have threatened Anna so far.  However, I was called to the Vigilance at DCP Office on 22nd Nov and I reiterated my statement for taking action against them.

Why we are adopting double standards?  We want to know if the life of Anna and others is less precious.
