[rti_india] denial of rti info by dy director of libraries - illegal construction of library in people's park

Subject: denial of rti info by dy director of libraries - illegal construction of library in people's park

I am sorry for having resent the message as the previous/earlier one was not showing the image / picture file attachment.

As expected I've received the above reply (denial of RTI information) from the Deputy Director of Libraries by Registered Post Acknowledgement Due on 26-06-2012 / 26-June-2012 / Monday, June 26, 2012.

I am sharing this in haste as a/one Mysore based NGO has plans to go to the Karnataka High Court because the illegal construction of library has already started inside the People's Park.

The Department of Libraries unfortunately seems hell bent on constructing a library inside the People's Park in connivance/collusion with the other maladministered/misgoverned government agencies at the city level [Mysore City Corporation (MCC), Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA),….] and state level.

I've already conveyed through my RTI Application dated Monday, June 11, 2012 / 11-06-2012 / 11-June-2012 that I'd be going to the Lokayukta and Upalokayukta (non-judicially) as soon as possible against all those who are behind the illegal construction of a Library right inside the People's Park in Mysore City.

The respondents could/may include the various the state government agencies, government/public servants and the politicians (MLAs/MLCs/Corporators) irrespective of their/his/her political affiliation.

I'll file my first RTI appeal along with my RTI Application and will share it with the national and regional media and groups/lists later as I do not have the time (right now) to translate the RPAD that I've received from the Deputy Director of Libraries, Mysore word by word from Kannada into English and file/give/send my reply/rejoinder.

The MCC is denying me information on almost the same topic for the past two to three years (since 2009) but I had remained silent since the illegal construction of the library had not started till June 2012.

I may have to reproduce the above mentioned matter once again when I give my detailed press release to the regional and national media.

Mysore: Syed Tanveeruddin, member of the Karanji and Siddharthanagar Tax Payers' Association, Mysore, has launched an online campaign against the "controversial and ambiguous" amendments made to the Karnataka Right to Information Act, 2005. "Even before this amendment, the State officials used to hunt for a clause under which they could deny information. We will continue our fight against the government's action until the changes in the Act are not dropped," he said in a press release here.

Agenda Item: 3 An e-mail from Shri Syed Tanveeruddin in respect of online petition/campaign in the internet/online edition.
