Even congress party insiders blame the congress leadership taking the security issu slightly

I think there are two points on security. The first is the lack of security for the common man and jawans and cops. The other is that a large group of very high security VIPs fell under attack.
The first is a matter of state priorities (or the lack of them). The other is the question of the quality of security if (assuming that BJP didn't off them) the security proved so inadequate where it is provided in abundance (in theory at least)
Some news reports report:
1. Cops and Congress leaders broke protocol for sensitive regions with the entire leadership traveling in one convoy.
2. Securing the area, or rather checking the area for security, which is usually done an hour before was done 3-4 hours before Giving time for Maoists to take position (assuming that the check didn't miss them when already present).
3. Karma had Z-security which was overwhelmed.
4. Security forces returned fire but ran out of ammo.
All these point to a clear lack of serious operational protocols, planning, preparation and performance. Though I am a mountaineer and our many military people will be able to comment on this better.
It is one thing for the poor to have no security, and another for those who have security to be sitting ducks.
Separate points, both very important.
