Dear Colleagues and Friends,
Sub: talkSol on Cities-
All of us know, one of the major problems which is affecting all our citizens living/working in urban areas is quality of life becoming poorer by the day.
Huge traffic congestion, pollution, inadequate garbage management, parking mess encroachment, inequity in health/housing/basic services, slum sprawls are some of the many ills afflicting our cities and towns. Though, day in day out, there have been conferences, discussions, talks and other events/interventions in these areas by corporate/government agencies and many professionals, but, the ground situation is not improving.
The Institute of Social Sciences is launching: 'talkSol' series. Mr. Vijay K. Saluja, Senior Fellow, Institute of Social Sciences is the Convenor of this innovative programme. Mr. Saluja was Chief Engineer (Civil Engg.), New Delhi Municipal Council.
In the talkSol there will be less of talk and more of solution-findings, to the problems. We shall work hard to get the solutions implemented by engaging with the concerned stakeholders and thus trying to make some dent in the stark ground realities.
The Inaugural talkSol will be held on Tuesday the 6 March 2018
from 2.30 to 4.30 pm in the Seminar Hall, Institute of Social Sciences.
Topic- How to Arrest Metros/Cities Becoming Unlivable?
It is my pleasure to invite you to this talkSol and I look forward to your active participation. Please confirm your participation to Mr. Nandakumar (e-mail id nandakumar@issin.org).
With my best regards,
George Mathew
Chairman
