I thank Indira Gandhi for setting up the first ministry for environment and forests, but it has not proved capable of ever protecting either of those under the onslaught of local capital, FDIs, World Bank-IMF policies - Do you good patriots not know that most of our revenues go to service the loans from multilateral FDs including the ADB and the JBID? The remainder goes to feed and fund the sarkar - IAS, IFS, politicos and naukarshahi down to village level. So there's little money left over for true development of the people of India, for education, health, children's nutrition, the care of the aged, social security, rural water supply, environmental protection and rehabilitation, or a fair deal for the millions displaced by the mines and infrastructure required by the elite and industrialists. We are in deep, deep, financial trouble and the sooner we recognise it the better - we shall stop crowing at our successes in launching 100s of satellites together, testing nuclear bombs, bringing in digital finance where people have no money to start with. Corruption is now at the highest level it has ever been in Indian history - the Mughals and Maharajas lived well but they didn't have to win votes by duping the public with false promises and freebies.
As for the present incumbents, please see the criminal antecedents of most of the persons in power today and tell us why this government should be supported further.
