When Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the 21 day total lock-down he had solemnly assured the nation that the essential commodities and groceries would be made available to all.
But at least in Goa people across the State are struggling to find even basic food to sustain themselves. People may die of starvation and not COVID-19. The plight of the daily waged workers is all the more despicable.
It was incumbent on the authorities to ensure that all the logistics were planned and in place before the lock-down came into force.
In a clear case of misplaced priorities the insurance companies in Goa have been asked to be open but nobody can reach its door. The banks and ATMs are there but your money is worthless as it can't buy even your basic requirements of groceries.
In the given circumstances Political distancing from the BJP and its very incompetent and chaotic government in Goa may be easier than Social distancing. That may be the only way forward.
