Re: [IAC#RG] “I am Narendra Modi’s Wife”

Dear Venkatraman

What is this "baseless /unproven rumour"?

FACTS: A lady Jasodhben has given local TV interviews (see them on
youtube) saying she was married to Narendra Modi. The people of her
village (its not far away) confirm that such a marriage did take place
35-40 years back, and that it was Narendra Modi who abandoned her.
Quite a few newspapers have reported it so its not as though IAC is
making it up. Narendra Modi / BJP have never formally denied reports
that he was married to this woman (for whom neither I nor IAC hold any
brief) or that he was divorced from her. A recent report in a
newspaper also now claims that Modi has taken her into his house (if
true a smart move). Mr Madhav Nalapat a senior editor who was also the
editor of Organiser (RSS weekly) has substantially confirmed these
facts and provided a detailed explanation. IndiaTV (a BJP boosting TV
channel if there was ever one, publishes that the #1 mystery about
Modi is his marital status).

Since you write in regularly about election reform / EC etc, do you
not agree that at least the basic formality of Mr Modi's election
affidavit being correct in respect of his wife should be complied
with.

Is not a voter entitled to know if his candidate is married or not and
if so the name of the said spouse ? I don't see how you can deny this
basic requirement when it is part of the prescribed election
affidavit, and especially when the party may project him for PM.

The root of corruption is politics, dishonesty and money. As an
apolitical non-partisan formation, the IAC will fight all these, and
the present example meets the criteria. With what face can you / I
talk on behalf of IAC if we condone such episodes ?

I repeat that although IAC's fight is against BIG CORRUPTION, it is
the small lies (which are very difficult to spin-doctor unlike the big
lies) which eventually bring down the entire edifice of lies and
deceit.

PS: There is more than enough time / space available for the serious
stuff / approach.
