Interestingly, the language of the INA was Roman Hindi. Netaji did not shun the use of the english alphabet to create a link language since the devnagri script was not very well known. This language is still in use inthe army. But in several states like West Bengal and Maharashtra, verbal hindi is understood and one can communicate easily. Bollywood has made a difference but I think the link language in South India is english. Pavan Nair

It is also a FACT that Census data is wrongly entered by enumerators to "boost" Hindi. For instance 7.3% of India speaks Urdu as a first language - why are they shown as Hindi speakers?
