DELHI GOVERNMENT'S CORRUPTION ENQUIRY SHOULD COVER AAP / KEJRIWAL ALSO
Even before being sworn in, AAP has announced that Delhi government would pursue corruption allegations against former Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit , industrialist Mukesh Ambani and others. This move should be welcomed, as it would be a decisive step towards anti corruption drive. However, it is necessary to keep in view at this stage that AAP only suspects them and they are yet to be proved to be corrupt.
At the same time, one can not ignore that there are serious allegations of money laundering, conversion of black money to white, use of overseas funds in unauthorised manner etc. against AAP and Kejriwal. Income tax authorities have already issued notice to Kejrival suspecting tax violation.
It would only be appropriate that Delhi government should enquire against AAP and Kejriwal also and this should be a public enquiry open to the media and everyone in the know of things should be allowed to depose before the enquiry committee.
It is extremely doubtful whether Kejriwal will have the courage and conviction to order an enquiry against himself and his party, as this may bring out many skeletons in the cupboard. This challenge is a test case for Kejriwal.
