I, ofcourse fully agree, being the son of the Adjutant General, Col. D.C. Nag, tasked by Subhash Bose to write up the INA Act and defend this at the INA trial in Delhi 1946. They were committed to lay down their lives to free India from British rule. There is no concrete evidence that Gandhi and Nehru were committed to lay down their lives to free India. They rather 'incited' the people to rebel, and die if required ! They abhorred personal violence.---------Hirak Nag.

Para 4. A deeper study of the freedom movement and the
antagonistic actions of Gandhi, Jawahar and other
acolites  would highlight the fact that it is infact
easier to project Subhash as No 1 in your list.His
achievements were not only inspite of but also
regardless
of Gandhi. 
Having
said that I will not insist on any change in your priorities
because Subhash will get his due regardless of any thing
else because people of India recognise his place in
history.

Thanks

1) At the outset let me inform you that Netaji
was my paternal
great-grandfather's
student in patriotism, and the student repaid his
debt to his teacher by saving his teacher's
life.

2) As you may recall
the IAC is part of a larger and ancient patriotic
movement from the 19th century, which is deeply
aware of and immersed
in its history and
pays homage to all those who came before us and on
whose work we build on today, Netaji
included.

3) As IAC is a
pan-Indian movement we have to carefully calibrate our
choices for maximum impact and support. I am
sure you will not
disagree that the first
objective is to dislodge Gandhi and repel his
image from the common psyche rather than
replace him by anybody
specific.

4) The 4 names IAC has
proposed were selected after considerable
internal discussions in the wider movements, to
provide an initial
impact, balanced
representations and a better overall shot at success.
Since apparently I shall be personally
spearheading this campaign if
we have to do
so, I would find it far easier to make a case for Tagore
versus Gandhi, rather than Netaji versus Gandhi
for the Rs. 1,000
note.

5) I also want to make it clear that we are
presently not changing the
names IAC is
proposing. I am proceeding for the annual retreat /
meeting of IAC's parent body today, and I
shall certainly faithfully
convey the views
of your INA trust to my seniors.

6) May I also say, humbly, it is also because
of such sectarianisms
that the Govt is able
to successfully divide us. Hence we appeal to
all those with IAC not to press any names at
this stage and focus on
the common larger
objectives of nation building and anti-corruption..
