Dear Mr Mahesh Khera,
I fully share your views.I have another point to add.
Unfortunately not many patriotic, honest & well read people want to enter politics. During a recent debate in Parliament on Sat , Lalu told Kapil Sibbal that Kiran Bedi will take you on in next elections. Prompt came Kiran's refusal to enter politics. Similarly , Arvind Kejriwal, an IIT Engineer, Ex commissioner I .Tax (an IRS) also refused to fight elections as indicated in India TV Adalat . There are many more .
Though such people will make excellent Parlimentarians but they just donot want to enter in this dirty pond of politics & rub shoulder with 180 criminals , Rajas , Kalmadis etc etc in the Parliament. And that leaves a big vaccum , readily filled by the Lalus & his lot .When Thats the irony .
Mr Srinivasan (a retd bureaucrat) says that administraion will come to a stop. No Sir, it will move faster. There may be initial resistance by the Babus because they will not get their cut. But once the time frame to complete his duty within specified days is laid down & implemented , he will not be able to escape . Fear of fines & discplinary actions will hang on his head.
Some time back, I had to withdraw some money from PPF. I applied & waited for a few weeks . But no news. Then I was told by my office cleark who deals with this org at Nehru Place that things will not be done till some bribe is paid as per the phone call he recd from the Babu at Reg Office . And this was a practice . I refused to oblige & went to the PPF office, met the concerned cleark & his immediate superior Lady offr. But they gave dilly dally evasive replies.I walked in the office of the No 2, in that org , probably an IAS . I told him that your people are asking me for a bribe to give me my own money at time of my need . Instead of questioning his subordinates , he was furious & upset with me for my statement.Obviosly all this was being done within his knowledge & may be connivance. I got my cheque a day after in mail, obviously without a cut .But then not many can take this route.
Now if & when Govt switches to e governance & time period for a job is laid out , people will not have to make innumerable visits to these offices but jobs will be done in a time bound manner & the administration will run like a well oiled machinery instead of dragging .
30 years back Singapore was like any backward town of India. But within a short span, this tiny country , much smaller than most of our states ( no minerals & big factories) has become a world attraction. There is practically no corruption, crime & absolutely a safe country. So can we, if corruption is eliminated .
Though people have woken up but the arrogant & corrupt politicians are not going to change & mend their ways easily as we have seen during Anna's anshan. There was a full fledge "Dirty Tricks Dept" of the Govt/Party to derail this Aug Kranti . They were almost successful to put Lokpal bill back in Cold Storage as they have done 8 times in last 42 years since 1969 ! But firm determination of Anna & his ability to continue his Anshan for 12 days & unparralel Public Support since Country's Independence , forced the Govt to bend .
Wishing Anna & Team well !
Warm Regards
Prem Gaba

Dear Sh Srinivasan,
Sh Arun Jaitley is a an eminent lawyer and above all he is a sensible politician too. The persons I mentioned in my mail have saved the country from sinking to the lowest moral pedestal. The nation has seen the way end results have been achieved. Manish Tiwari, Sibal, PC, Mani Shankar (who called Anna a bloody rubbish on NDTV), Abhishek, Omar Abdulla, Lalu (who wants to rule the country with arrogance in Hindi it is "Raub") and a few of senior ex offcials like former SG, ex babus, police officials, judges (former CJI) and journos whose first reaction was that all this is unconstitutional, have eaten the grass and do not know how to present themselves again on TV channels. They are all absconding and waiting for the dust to settle down and come up again on TV to show their ugly heads, hopefully now washed up and made clean.
I never expected Rahul Gandhi to mislead the nation by his most useless speech in the zero hour in the Parliament. What a waste of precious 15 minutes of the zero hour. He is being projected as the next PM by some cronies in the Cong but he showed to the nation as to what actually he is, a very low intellect man. He and all his young turks have been an insult to themselves. Instead of telling the nation, yes we need a strong Lok pal and along with this we also need to implement our National E Governance Plan (NEGP) to include public Procurement, Projects and Operations (PPO) just like the way 40 developed countries have already demonstrated to the world. These countries, all democracies like us, have built their governance around software and telecom which has not only cleaned up the garbage but has also arrested the greed for money in neats, babus, police and judges just because e gov keeps an indelible record of their decisions which are used to punish them on the spot in case of any graft and complaints. Not only they are scared but they envision the humiliation which their gen next will have to go through if they take bribe. Thus, the sword is always on their head only for bribe avoidance. India is No 1 in software and No 2 in telecom. How ironic that others have used software and telecom to eradicate bribe, India is happy at 87 in the least corrupt index. Netas do not want public PPOs to come up in e gov as they would have no opportunity left to award contracts to their favorites in rail, roads, airports, power, education, health, agriculture, telecom, land etc (more than $ 500 m comes in five years on these projects) and take a sizable cut to keep their parties flushed with funds to fight elections and buy votes. Babus are also happy as they also get their cut. Thus, our NEGP like Govt Lok Pal is left to address low level routine automation of birth certs, death certs, marriage certs etc which is not even 1 % of the total money out of which netas and babus can expect any hefty cuts. Thus, they do not mind NEGP implementation at a snail's speed with no review no accountability etc. True NEGP like Jan Lok Pal needs a solid political will. The next move along with electoral reforms should be to model our weak NEGP on the lines of 40 devloped countries, have a time bound implementation, monthly review on national TV, take questions from audience for last 10 mins and ensure that by 2016, NEGP is fully implemented which gives India a jump to 40 rank in least corrupt index. All included, by 2030, India is No 1 in least corrupt index.
Having said the above, the people have woken up these arrogant netas from their slumber and would remain after them should they deviate from major national issues in future. Netas are expected to drive babus for performance and when netas start taking money themselves, they become weak and instead of driving the babus keep their eyes and mouth shut and babus are happy with their share too. Anna has enabled the people to realize this and such things are expected to stop now.
Jai Hind and Jai Janata.

Apparently you have not heard ArunJaitly in Parliament. He is a lawyer and stated that Constitution has to be kept in mind. The "Q" outside lawschools these days open your eyes to the need foe lawyers in society to uphold the rule of Law.The lawyers you have cited have spoken as politicians and not lawyers.
