Re: [IAC#RG] OROP; Response by Lt Gen Harbhajan Singh

 TO all,
Hope you have understood why the veterans are agitating for; Generals reply itself is plain and simple.
1. If you do not get pension that is because you job an pay and perks cater for the old age retirement requirement.

2. Have you been in a situation when you were paid less than your agreed pay. You would have forgotten loyalty to the organization and agitated and forced it to close, or

3. Left the organization and gone for a better paymasters or gone abroad and forget the loyalty and patriotism you talk about, settled down and taken their citizenship and worked their like a meek underdog, "Na ghar ka Na ghatka "

4. Why you all look towards  the Armed forces as the last resort, because they are professionally efficient and competent, loyal, patriot, disciplined and honest and they deliver.

Perfectly right. I have been following up different  mails and have been surprised by reaction in some of them trying to belittle the defence forces and their demands. A number of mails have categorically and point by point have written as to how the post retirement payments for personnel of Armed forces have been reduced from time to time while those of Civil side and politicians have increased. Both Civil servants and personnel of forces are doing their duty. Defence forces form a large chunk of Central Govt Employees. Why they are denied a part in decision making by Pay commission is not understandable.

Dear Mr
Dua and others,
The
agitation is Not against the work the Armed Forces are being
asked to do as per terms they signed up for but against
blatantly under paying them while in service and retired as
compared their counter parts in the civil services.

Their
interse status and remunerations have been reduced with
vengeance after each Pay Commission as a conspiracy by the
Bureaucrats while enhancing their own. (They have even managed to get raise in
status and salary/perks for not doing corresponding work
thru NFU!!! This is LOOT OF THE NATION ).

Armed
Forces have been even denied representation in the Pay
Commissions all along in spite of constant
requests.
When
normal, requests and representations to the highest
authorities went unheeded for decades not years, with a very
heavy heart the veterans started the agitation. Any
country's Armed Forces personnel resorting to agitation
is a very very serious matter.

If you
think this is GREED and not legitimate reaction to blatant
Tana Shahi by Babus (who have the ear of the politicians),
well what can one say.

Generally
what we need to understand here is that all the gentlemen n
ladies in Armed Forces are JUST performing their duties
which they were aware at the time of joining forces.

The nature of duty is clear and no has forced them to
join,am sure.

We Indians have misplaced sense of heroism as far as our
work is concerned.

We like to think there is no one better than us or more
hardworking..This is mostly in all streams and as one can
see our Armed Forces are no exception.

Regards to all.

Dear
members of the group,
This mail
is directly addressed to those who are ranting against the
peaceful "agitation" of the "greedy"
veterans.
Do I
understand that the members who have aired their views
against the "greedy" veterans are perfectly happy
when their employer hires them with certain "Terms and
Conditions" of service and, after they take up the
appointment their employer, surreptitiously (without their
knowledge) changes these terms. Now, after discovering this
treachery, do you suggest that these employees take it lying
down? Would you do it?
Do I also
understand that these people are smarter than the the two
Parliaments which approved the OROP, the Koshiary Committee,
which carried out a detailed analysis and agreed with the
OROP and the Supreme Court of the country which ruled in
favour of this demand of the "greedy" veterans? If
yes, then I would highly recommend that these people should
be immediately appointed to some important posts so that
they can make a "positive" change in the
country.
I remember
reading someones views on how to deal with this problem.
That someone had made a recommendation to the Prime Minister
that the country's Armed Forces should be disbanded
which would save all the money that the country is
"wasting" on maintaining such a force. Of course,
in the case of an attack on the country we could either ask
these luminaries (the ones who I am directly addressing
this mail to)  to deal with the situation to safeguard the
nations independence or, better still, just go back to being
slaves ... once again.
Obviously,
I am totally confused as to why the nation is not supporting
the demands of the "greedy" veterans and would
like to request someone to please clear my
confusion.

agree with Mr Roy, Mr. Ramani and Mr. Kapoor. 50,000 crores

India, like me, Mr. Kapoor and Mr Roy, get not a penny in
pension and get cleaned out with an acute medical illness,
this whining by former soldiers doesnt end. We are so sorry
we had greedy fellows like you to man my borders. And mind
you it is voluntary. I have covered defence and visited
their remote locations. We have kept our lips sealed in
national interest about the goings on. Ketchup colonel is
nothing. There are many good guys in defence but
unfortunately the greedy ones dominate. STOP IT WILL YOU.

  Dear Brig

It seems our veterans
lose their ability to detect friend from foe
once they retire if you lot routinely dish out
terms like "traitor" to
describe
your channel hosts.

FYI, I
am not a babu. Neither do I get any pension / salary from
the Govt.

What
"I" am is the poor fool who pays for all the
worthless and
whining rascals hiding behind
terms like patriotism and nationalism
for
their greedy / selfish ends. I am the person who pays for
ketchup
colonels and their fake encounters.
I am the person who pays for
Adarsh Housing
scams. ...

You people were
paid enough for any work you allegedly did while in
service. If you couldn't save while you
were in service I fail to see
why we
citizens should pay for your existence and your booze once
you
retire. (NB: By "you" I mean
each and every person who gets a pension
-
starting from our worthless MPs)

I am sure that many ordinary citizens would say
much the same thing
once we leave the
hypocrisy behind.

Best
