Notes on Demands for Grants, 2016-2017 109 No. 21/Defence Pensions MINISTRY OF DEFENCE DEMAND NO. 21 Defence Pensions A. The Budget allocations, net of recoveries ...

The Defence Pensions budget of 2016-17 has risen 33% in a single year to 82,000 crore, the Army gets the bulk of it at 90% and still we want more for ourselves.

What next ? Should India buy more planes and missiles or pay pensions under 7th Pay Commission ? Is it any wonder that the 2,000 rupee note is introduced to provide for such hyper-inflation ?

At a time like this when the people are suffering from the aftereffects of demonetisation and trying to cope with them, is it right to raise this issue specially when pension issue has been discussed here a number of times and the opinion is sharply divided.
