Mr. Sarabjit's reply  is confusing. Date of reply is the date on which the letter is approved by the PIO.But if it is not despatched on the same date (there should be enttries in the Despatch Register and stamp account register if postage stamp is used). So the date of actual date is what matters and not the date of approval of communication.

30 days period starts from the day when your RTI application was received by the PIO not the date of posting.
