Can a State Government add more exemptions to Sec 8 ?

The Government of Assam has specified some information to be exempted under Sec 8 of the RTI Act - in addition to Sec 8(1)(a) to (j) - which are already there in the Act passed by Parliament.

The Governor of Assam is pleased to notify the exemption nom disclosure of the following information under Section 8 of Right to Information Act, 2005 of Govemment of India. This is in addition to the items from (a) to (j) under section 8 (1) of the same Act.

1. Information relating to deployment and movement of force.
2. Information relating to security arrangements in respect of individuals/organisations/vital installations.
3. Information relating to operations against extremists/terrorists/insurgents/outfits and anti-national elements.
4. Information on details of ceasefire and negotiations.
5. Identity of informers giving information on extremists, terrorists, insurgents and anti-national elements, information as regards activities and movement of extremists, terrorists, insurgent and anti-national elements.
6. Identity of officers involved in operations against extremists, terrorists, insurgent and anti-national elements.
