Subject: Making the 193-200 tree/trees lined Lalitha Mahal Road in Mysore City a National Highway 212 or NH 212 defies logic (or lacks sense / proper discretion).

Or

I have renamed the originally forwarded Kannada.pdf file as 'Making Lalitha Mahal Road a National Highway defies logic - Major General S G Vombatkere, Mysore Grahakara Parishat or MGP, Kannada' - 57 KB for an easier identification.

I am grateful to Dr. S.A. Prasad of the Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) for having forwarded/emailed the Kannada version of the PDF File to my email/e-mail ID.

The Kannada and Hindi Fonts in a PDF File cannot be copied and converted into text by using the mouse / keyboard. They need to be typed manually.

The Kannada version of the MGP's press release is a condensed version of the English press release with some corrections. Therefore, I will be manually translating the Kannada version into English and Hindi in the next couple of days and sending it to the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and all the government authorities / officials / agencies concerned at the city, state and national level (in my  personal / individual capacity).

I reside in the residential locality/area of Siddharthanagar and the Lalitha Mahal Road runs beside it (in addition to some other localities). http://www.thepetitionsite.com/2/save-mysore-trees/

The links articles / news reports that have been published in Online/Internet Editions of Deccan Herald and The Hindu have been given below as 1) and 2):

1) NH-212 alignment will spike city's traffic density - Akram Mohammed, Deccan Herald, Mysore, Internet/Online Edition, Wednesday, January 22, 2014 - Print Edition, Thursday, January 23, 2014

The present alignment of NH-212, passing through Mysore city has been met with strong criticism from retired engineers and other concerned citizens. In an open letter to the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, they have noted the flaws of the alignment and suggested that the presently planned alignment be abandoned.

2) Demand for alternative alignment of NH-212 - Special Correspondent, The Hindu, National, Karnataka, Mysore, Friday, January 24, 2014

The national highway will be converted into a four-lane stretch

The alternative alignment will save at least 200 trees in the city, and also avoid traffic congestions, say citizens' groups.— Photo: M.A. Sriram
