Press and the journalists should own for what they write.
They should be brought under the laws for publishing insensitive and thrash information without confirmation and like any other citizen of India charged for inciting the public by giving wrong information.
If Rushdie's book is banned and Advani is charged for outrages speech at Ram Mandir what is there to give immunity to this particular privileged citizen of India?

Subject: [HumJanenge] Uncovering of Truth - IE Story of Suggesting an Attempted Army Coup Needs Investigation
Dear Mr Sarbajit and friends,Shekhar Gupta has taken out a story in IE which suggests that there might have been an intention of an Army coup in the country led by the Army Chief. While, every one very rightly has trashed the story on all national TV channels, there is a need to conduct an impartial investigation into this most diabolical news item unprecedented in the history of free India. The largest democracy of the world can not sit idle and do a cover up just through a couple of debates on national TV channels. Keeping quiet about it would be the greatest dis-service to the nation. If the story has any substance then under the relevant laws, the guilty should be promptly punished in an exemplary way. If however, the story is just a concocted one then an exemplary action should be taken against the IE and Shekhar Gupta for sedition under the prevailing laws.Free press must be respected but that does not mean that one can get away after suggesting some thing which is so explosive that threatens the safety, security, defense, integrity, honor and the very existence of the country.I suggest Mr Sarbajit to seek the views of the members of HJ group and if majority wants an independent probe then as a group, we should approach the honorable PM to order an impartial inquiry forthwith. With warm regards,
Col Mahesh Khera
