But if the wife suppresses her income from her husband, why should she disclose it to the IT department!!

Though Sarbajit has already replied your query, you must answer mine. I normally do not respond to mails from persons who do not put in their signature at the bottom of the mail. From the way you have posted, it looks like you have something to hide. If you want details on the income of your better half, why dont you come out with your own disclosure like your name, your income and mainly the purpose of seeking this information? This will enable this group guide you in this matter.
