Subject: Re: [rti_india] Re: Reaction to the killing of OUR RTI Activist Ramdass Patil
Raja and all members it is a high time that the we and media realise and differentiate between genuine RTI users and those using the ACT to fill their pockets or for their dirty interests.
Raja I haven't known Patilji so can't really comment. But I had known an activist from Gujarat who was shot dead recently. The murder like all others was an unfortunate incident. But the point that he was killed because he filed an RTI application is without doubt baseless, for reasons that many in group have already posted.
Also I have now learnt that an RTI body in state is going to confer an posthumous award to him.
Raja n Sarabjit many people who have known and worked with this tainted forest official turned environmentalist have told me how he has made lakhs of rupees from various corporates including a corporate major which has mining and oil business in Gujarat. He is known to have threatened corrupt forest officials to give share in the money they earn or he will expose them through RTI. I have also been told that he was a close aide of a Gujarat minister who is currently in jail in an fake encounter case, for whom he settled many scores.
The RTI body says the award is to make him a role model for many which will help promote RTI.
I sincerely believe RTI Act can survive without role models instead creating them out of fake and corrupt people.

Dear Raja
Please excuse me when I say this, how is this person OUR RTI ACTIVIST?
Why should the reputation of this group be confused with such persons just because you are allowed to post freely here?
If you truly want to do something, become a responsible RTI user and use RTI as we do. You may also reflect on why so many alleged RTIers from Maharashtra are being killed. Is it because they were not RTIers first but actually criminals ?
"Preliminary post mortem report revealed excess alcohol in his body, police said.
:
He was a local Shiv Sena leader in Nanded and the head of the district Milk Sellers Association."
