[RTI INDIA] Heroes of RTI movement [1] Mr. Babubhai Vaghela

Dear Friends

From today, and as often as I can, I intend to mention ordinary
citizens who are trying to make a difference to society and the world
around them using RTI (in addition to other means)..

So today I wish to mention Mr Babubhai Vaghela from Ahmedabad. I am
privileged to be allowed to join his google group, the URL of which is
[http://groups.google.com/group/right-to-information-act-2005/about]
and keep myself updated by his amazing actions.

Like me, Mr Babubhai, has complete and utter contempt for our
political class and believes that as public servants they should serve
us (we the people of India) instead of the other way around. He
tirelessly writes letters and emails to the President, PMO, CabSec
et.al and ensures that they listen (and reply) to him Free of Cost. I
must ask him how he does it. No issue is too big ("Dear Madam
President why are there only upto 10 Information Commissioners for 120
crore people of India") or too small ("Dear Mr Finance Minister ...")
But I'll let you read this on your own.

"Mr Pranab Mukherjee,

This has reference to the messages of 2008 forwarded herewith and my
experience of date at SBI & ICICI Bank today when share market
upheaval is there and the demand for cash due to festival season is
also high.

SBI ATM was absolutely slow working and ICICI Bank system at 100 Ft
Road Branch on Anandnagar Road Ahmedabad was simply crawling taking
hell of a long time in serving the customers. I had to literally shout
at the people there to get just Rs 10000/- cash.

*Please ensure that hanky panky is not done by the Banks to unduly
control cash withdrawal by the citizens.*

Regards, Babubhai "

Aaah, if we only had another 10 Babubhai's instead of those 10 CIC
jokers (just joking) India would be so much more fun.
