Dimapur, October 23 (MExN): Training for the 3rd batch on RTI Act 2005
for the year 2010-2011 was conducted from October 20 to 22 at ATI,
Kohima. Altogether 34 officers from 14 departments attended the
training. A press note stated that in a short valedictory function
chaired by the course Coordinator Dr. Hovithal Sothu, State
Coordinator, DMC, the Director of ATI V. Shashank Shekhar (IAS)
exhorted the trainees and gave away the participatory certificates.
He stressed on the importance of RTI and encouraged the participants
to give more voluntary disclosures. He also said that RTI has been
accepted very well by our system and hence this Act should be put to
its full use and added that RTI Act came into effect after many years
of effort by several individuals and organizations. Since a government
is "of the people, by the people and for the people" RTI is a very
useful method for improving the system. He also mentioned the public
hearing conducted by YouthNet in Kohima for Naga Hospital authority
which increased public awareness, it said. Moreover, open invitation
was also given to all the officers to attend other trainings conducted
at ATI by the director. Botovi Sema from Land Resources and Er. N.
Khoto Zetsuvi, AME, PWD (Mechanical) department spoke on behalf of the
participants. Resource Persons for the training were Dr. Hovithal
Sothu, state Coordinator, DMC and Nodal Officer, RTI and Lydia,
Advocate.
